The South Street Bridge

 The following links provided preliminary information for us on the South Street Bridge. Additionally, they clued us into some of the constraints that the designers had to take into account.
This paper provided us with the majority of the dimensions of the bridge, which were scaled down for our model.

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to construct a bridge model given certain parameters, analyze our design using Sketch Up and Visual Analysis, test our model using the PASCO Load Cell, and compare our results. Our group has chosen to pursue the construction of a beam and deck bridge. We will be modeling the South Street Bridge. Through the extent of this project our group will develop understanding of the materials used, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of a beam and deck bridge and how stress is applied to a bridge.
